A few year's ago, the White Horse Farm Inn in Rosedale Abbey on the North York Moors was just another failing country pub in the hands of the liquidators.
This was a sad outcome for an historic Inn that had been open since 1703.
But in 2010, a local consortium of seven community backers bailed out the pub and set about restoring it to its former glory.
And just two years later - in July 2012 - the White Horse was named Yorkshire’s Favourite Pub in a competition run by the "Welcome To Yorkshire" tourism campaign.
I feel it is a well-deserved title and a just reward for the owners and staff of the White Horse Farm whose hard work has turned this into the perfect pub to discover on your own visit to Rosedale.

Being voted Yorkshire's Fourite pub makes it a little hard to review the Inn today.
What else is there to say really?
Well, for starters, the White Horse is really handy for guests staying in Rosella Cottage - since we're just a quarter-mile walking distance from the pub.
So it really is our local "local".

But being "handy" isn't everything.
Our guests tell us time after time that they enjoy visiting the White Horse during their stays at the Cottage.
Mostly, they comment on the lovely views available from the beer garden; the cosy lounge with its roaring fire; and the great food on offer in both bar-meal format and via the restaurant.
The Beer Garden Offers Super Views on a Summer Evening.
The stylish restaurant, with its magnificent views over Rosedale Abbey, offers a variety of wonderful, traditional style meals, and serving true Yorkshire Portions.
All the restaurant and bar meals are freshly cooked to order by Chef Geoff Oldroyd and his team using the finest, locally sourced produce.
In the main lounge, you'll find a nice traditonal corner bar stocked with a range of three hand-pulled Ales and other fizzy beers and lagers.
There are also comfy sofa's, and a number of small tables with most given over to patrons having bar meals.
The Cosy Bar Offers a Warm Welcome to Walkers and Cyclists.
The White Horse is central to Rosedale community life and it gets busy with locals and tourists - particularly on weekends.
The pub is particularly favoured by walkers and cyclists who head to Rosedale in droves during the Spring and Summer.
And many walks start and finish right from the pub carpark outside.
If you're not staying at Rosella Cottage in the village; you might fancy staying at the White Horse instead - which offers its own ten rooms on a B+B basis.
They have three rooms which are suitable for families and seven doubles; all with en-suites.
