Kirkbymoorside is not a typical North York Moors chocolate-box tourist hot-spot.
Though you'll still find plenty of visitors throughout the year.
But we like Kirkbymoorside because it's just not so busy as our other neighbouring towns of Pickering, Helmsley or Whitby.
This is especially true in high summer when the majority of visitors are out and about across the North York Moors.
In fact you might drive along the A170 from Helmsley to Pickering and not even notice that Kirkbymoorside exists.
And that is a shame!
Because in recent years, the efforts of the Kirkbymoorside Town Council, Civic and Environment Groups, and the History Group have added renewed vigour to the high street and a number of new shops have opened.
Kirkbymoorside enjoys a sustainable self-sufficiency and the town offers visitors a high quality of high-street services in an authentic North York Moors market-town setting.
And there’s always a lot going on, no matter what the season.
The town has an amazing range of local artists, musicians, community workers, volunteers, small entrepreneurs, historians, sports enthusiasts and more – all of whom contribute to make Kirkbymoorside a really vibrant and fascinating place to visit.
I'd recommend a trip out to Kirkbymoorside just a short drive away across the North York Moors as part of any holiday-break in Rosedale Abbey.
Rosella is a lovely self-catering holiday home in Rosedale Abbey.
We're focussed on the holiday needs of busy couples wanting a break from routine. We have a cosy lounge, a king-size bed, and a lovely en-suite.
With a village-centre location, it's easy walking distance to the village shop, cafes, and two pubs with great restaurants.
Built in 1850 but now completely refurbished, Rosella offers a luxury break in the heart of the North York Moors.
