6 Rosedale Abbey

Rosedale certainly put on a great show for the first Tour de Yorkshire cycle race on Friday 1st May 2015!
Thousands of people lined the route of the race throughout Rosedale and on the climb up the newly named 'Côte de Rosedale Abbey'; starting right from Rosella Cottage on the village green.
The Côte de Rosedale Abbey was the longest and highest climb of the first day.
With the local school children watching on, the local jazz band playing tunes, and a super cake and coffee-stall on hand on the green, visitors and locals alike enjoyed a carnival atmosphere in Rosedale Abbey.
And the crowds at the top of the Côte de Rosedale Abbey were astounding to see.
The Crowd enjoying the King of the Mountains Racing.
I can't wait for next year; and just hope that Rosedale's infamous Chimney Bank forms part of the route next time round.
That challenge certainly will bring out the crowds!
