Shandy Hall was the former home of writer Laurence Sterne - author of Tristan Shandy - and today it is open to the public as a museum operated by the Laurence Sterne Trust.
The museum at Shandy Hall contains a collection of books, paintings, manuscripts, prints and ephemera relating to the writer's life and times in North Yorkshire.
The collection of editions of Sterne's works is internationally recognised.
Shandy Hall is also surrounded by two acres of beautiful gardens that are open to the public.
Within the grounds there is a converted granary containing a gallery space.
There are also outbuildings containing a shop and toilets.
Shandy Hall is located near the church in the village of Coxwold; about 8-miles to the Southwest of Helmsley and just 30-minutes drive from Rosella Cottage here in Rosedale Abbey.
Coxwold is a pretty village containing the Fauconberg Arms, Coxwold Tearooms and a pottery.
Shandy Hall Museum is open on Wednesday and Sunday from 2.30pm to 4.30pm during the summer months from the May to the end of September.
Please note that the Gardens are open everyday - except Saturday - from 1st May to 30th September from 11.00am to 4.30pm.
Admission to both the House and Garden is £4.50 for adults with accompanied children being £2.25.
Garden only admission is £2.50.
