If you're a keen gardner, or you're holidaying in our region with younger children, you'll love a visit to the Dutch house in Crayke near Helmsley, just outside the North York Moors National Park.
Crayke is about 25-miles drive from Rosella Cottage in Rosedale; and it is a lovely peaceful - but interesting and inspiring place.
That's because the Dutch house showcases beautiful gardens and sculptures which offer visitors the chance to find out more about about sustainable gardening, garden wildlife, and biodiversity.
The Duth house's ecological sculpture garden has been lovingly designed by Sjaak Kastelijn (you might guess he's a Dutchman!), who until recently was the Manager of the lovely York Museum Gardens in York.
The garden contains a collection of native trees, a wild flower meadow, herbaceous borders, kid's nature zone and a display of sculptures.
If you're hungry, the Dutch house also serves breakfast, light lunches, homemade cakes and Dutch specialities.
You can also buy unique art and gifts from local artists in the Gallery.
There is free entry to the gardens, but donations are welcome, and dogs on leads are also welcome.
For more information on the Dutch house, opening times, and what events are happening, telephone Sjaak on 01347-889431.
