+   The North York Moors Railway from Pickering offers the romance of a steam-train journey to Whitby; with some of the most scenic countryside that the National Park has to offer slipping past the carriage windows.

+   The ruined splendour of Rievaulx Abbey and the near-by Rievaulx Terrace is one of the jewels of North Yorkshire; and not to be missed on any visit to North Yorkshire.

+   Castle Howard needs little introduction; and offers several hours worth of indoor visiting through its grand halls; making it ideal for visiting if the weather is not so sunny.  With a 1,000 acres of Grounds to explore, it'll also keep you busy on the finest of summer days!

+   Pickering Castle holds a thousand years of history within its ancient walls; and the English Heritage people do a good job to help interpret the Castle's role within the local landscape.

+   The National Trust's Nunnington Hall is a magnificent Stately-home with period gardens, lush meadows, and art exhibitions throughout the year.

+   Helmsley Walled Garden offers a beautiful botanic environment and a lovely cafe for a spot of afternoon tea.
