Ryedale Folk Museum and I have a lot in common.
For starters, the Folk Museum opened its doors the same year as I was born - in 1964.
Secondly, both the Museum and I started out really little and grew much bigger!
It opened with just three rooms; for evenings only, and charged one shilling entry.
Today there are over 20 reconstructed buildings to enjoy and more than six acres of grounds.

Ryedale Folk Museum Was Voted Yorkshire's Best Small Museum in 2013.
And so 2014 marks my 50th birthday and the museum's 50th anniversary since opening.
Ryedale Folk Museum in Hutton-le-Hole is a great place to visit during any holiday on the North York Moors.
And it is just a short drive away across the beautiful Spaunton Moor from Rosedale Abbey.
In fact, it is so close that you could walk or cycle there from Rosella Cottage.
The Folk Museum offers a glimpse into the past of what life was like on the North York Moors over the previous centuries..
The Folk Museum is like a small hamlet in itself and showcases a historic and atmospheric collection of North Yorkshire buildings which tell a story about a rural way of life from the Iron Age to the 1950s.
The family-friendly Museum offers a great day out for visitors to the North York Moors staying in Rosedale.

There is so Much to See on a Visit to Ryedale Folk Museum.
A Family admission (2 adults, 2 children) is £22.50.
Adult admission is £7.00.
Children aged 4 to 16 enter for £6.00 and admission is free for younger children under 4.
You'll find the Ryedale Folk Museum in Hutton-le-Hole, North Yorkshire, YO62 6UA.
