The route is 19-miles in length and can be completed in 3-5 hours depending on fitness.

After the steep climb out of Rosedale, the route is easier going with a gentle ride on the long-abandoned railway cinder track over the high North York Moors.

On clear days, you'll enjoy magnificent views in all directions.

To ride this section of the Moor to Sea Route, turn left from the front door of Rosella Cottage in Rosedale Abbey  on the road signed "Castleton".

After about a mile, take the right fork at the "Y" junction.

Keep riding up the long hill and out of Rosedale onto the moor.

Continue in a North-westerly direction on the moor road past White Cross to Rosedale Head.

Turn Left at the Blakey juncton and ride to the Lion Inn.

Continue for half-mile and turn right at the junction signed "Farndale".

Before descending down the steep bank into Farndale, turn right on the track to access the line of the former Rosedale Railway.

Follow the line of the old railway aross the high moors for about seven miles to the spectacular viewpoint of Incline Top.

If riding down the incline, please take care.

At the bottom, turn right and follow the stone road past the cottages to Bank Foot.

Turn left onto the tarmac road, then left again at the "T" junction.

You'll soon ride into Ingleby Greenhow.

Keep straight ahead through the village and continue north for 1.5 miles to arrive at Easby.
