There will be a new cycling centre opening soon at Sutton Bank, thanks to a partnership between the North York Moors National Park Authority and Pace Cycles.

The partnership has the potential to make Suton Bank the leading cycling centre in the North of England and a ‘must visit’ destination for holidaymakers to the region.

And all in time for the Tour de France coming to Yorkshire in 2014.

Located at the top of the 1,000 foot high Sutton Bank, the new cycling centre will encourage more people to cycle and enjoy the National Park.

At the heart of the project is a new 3-mile family cycle route taking cyclists along the stunning Sutton Bank cliff which will link with the existing bridleway network in he area.

The new family trail links into many miles of waymarked and managed routes suitable for a wide variety of cycling abilities.

Cycle hire, retail sales of mountain bikes and road bikes, a range of clothing and accessories, and bicycle repair and servicing will all be on offer at the new centre.

There will also be cycling tuition and skills development, events, and guided and self-paced cycle rides for cyclists of all abilities.

Trailers and Tag-A-Long bikes for young children as well as tandem and electric bikes will be also available.

Families and those returning to cycling will be most welcome.

The centre will feature a purpose-built skills area and bikewash arranged around the existing visitor centre, café and parking areas.

And due to its central location within a network of cycle friendly lanes, a series of road riding loops will be mapped out for visitors.

Sutton Bank Bikes will be open all year round and is just a 30-minute car ride from Rosella Cottage here in Rosedale Abbey.
