Coast to Coast Mardi Gras

The Favela Brass Project provides free brass, percussion and English-language lessons for poor children in a small favela in Rio de Janeiro.

And musicians raising money for the project - The Sandhouse Stompers - are walking 120 miles of the famous "Coast to Coast" walk playing gigs at each of the nine towns and villages they pass along the way.

The Coast to Coast is Englands Premier Long Distance Path.

The walk starts on Tuesday 21st July and ends in Whitby on the 30th July.

Locally, here on the North Yorkshire Moors, you can join the Sandhouse Stompers playing some hot New Orleans Jazz on Tuesday 28th at the Helmsley Brewing Company in Helmsley; or on Wednesday 29th July at the Coach House Inn here in Rosedale Abbey.
