Now that the excitement of the Tour de Yorkshire cycle race is fading; it is time to get excited about the next big event taking place in Rosedale Abbey!
I'm talking about our annual "Walkers are Welcome" Walking Festival; this year taking place over the weekend of Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th June 2015.
Walkers are Welcome in Rosedale.
As usual, there are some super walks to allow locals and visitors to the Dale to discover more of scenic Rosedale; but places on each walk are limited - so get cracking!

Listed below are some of the highlights to look forward to this June.
Starting 10.00am at Abbey Tea Shop; it is just round the corner from Rosella Cottage in the village centre.
An easy to moderate walk with two gentle climbs and incorporating a visit to three tea shops in Rosedale!
Approximately nine miles and seven hours duration.
Cost £12 and includes all drinks and food as detailed below:
+ Coffee and biscuits at Abbey Stores;
+ Sandwich & savoury lunch at Dale Head Tea Garden; and
+ Concluding with tea & cake at Graze on The Green.
Accompanied children over 11 years and dogs on leads welcome.
Rosedale Offers Great Opportunities for Walkers.
Starting at 1.30pm at Ebeneezer Methodist Chapel (Rosedale East).
This walk is an interesting and varied treck taking in some of the ancient and well worn tracks and landmarks which are the heart of local Rosedale folklore and legend.
The walk is just under nine miles and will take about four hours.
Accompanied children over 11 years and dogs on leads welcome.
Cost is £4 per adult and children 11-17 are free.
Start and finish from Rosedale Abbey Primary School yard behind Rosella Cottage.
The walk commences at 2pm.
The walk will be an interactive ramble of approximately one-mile; based on trail booklets devised by pupils from the village school.
Children must be accompanied by an adult and the cost is £1 per child which includes an informative booklet.
Starting 9.00am from the Village Green next to Rosella Cottage.
Return approx 5pm.
This is a moderate to strenuous walk with a climb of nearly 1,000' and a distance of 11 miles.
Cost £4for adults and accompanied children over 11 years are free.
Dogs on leads welcome.
Starting 10am from the Village Green.
This is a moderate walk that meanders along Rosedale's two upper valleys over a distance of approximately five-miles.
There will be frequent stops (weather permitting) to allow opportunities for sketching or photography.
Bring a packed lunch, sketching materials, cameras and binoculars.
Cost £4 for adults and accompanied children over 11 years are free.
Dogs on leads welcome.
Refreshments and picnic foods are available at Abbey Tea Rooms and Graze on the Green in the village; both before and after the walk.
Join members of Rosedale History Society at 10.30am on the Village Green for this walk from Rosedale Abbey to Dalehead via Thorgill and on to East Mines.
The History Society will recount the social and industrial history of Rosedale and show archive photos, and the beautiful scenery.
A lunch at Dale Head Tea Garden is included.
Walk and lunch £12.00 for Adults.
Lunch is £8.00 for accompanied children over 11.
