A Day-out on the Train from Whitby

Now that the Winter is upon us once again; there'll be some days when holidaymakers to Whitby may need to turn to indoor activities if the weather is a little inclement.

NYM Railway Steamtrain

And one of the very best ways to have a fun-filled day - even if the weather is poor - is to head off to Whitby rail station and board a train for a run up the beautiful Esk Valley Line.

It really is one of Britains best and most scenic railway journey's.

It is such a pleasent way to spend a few hours taking in the magnificent moorland scenery; or getting off at any of the little Esk Valley villages for a spot of exploration and maybe some Lunch.

Lealholm, Danby and Castleton are our recommendations; with the National Park Centre at Danby just a mile or so from the station at Danby.  It is well worth a visit.

Trains run every day towards Middlesbrough and you can even change at Grosmont Station and get on the North York Moors Steam Railway for a run through to Pickering on a "Hogwarts" steam train.

It's guarenteed fun!
