Rosedale Abbey is found in the middle of the North York Moors.
Over the previous three days I've been making recommendations on places worth visiting during any holiday to this region.
Today I'll add to the list by discussing the area on the Eastern side of the North York Moors and highlight some good places to visit during your holiday.
The Eastern and Southeastern corner of the Moors are largely covered by a dense forest of pine and spruce trees.
Staindale Lake in the Eastern North York Moors.
There are various forest parks here providing access to this wooded habitat via a series of roads and paths to venture down by foot or on a bike.
Dalby Forest, Cropton Forest and the Bride Stones are highlights in this area and a visit to Newtondale is also recommended.
The Bridestones Offer a Mysterious Place to Visit.
Fylingdales Moor is an internationally important archeology location due to its stone-age history; and the pyramid structure of the America "secret" radar station is worth a look (but don't get too close because it's "secret").
I must admit, the "three-minute warning" radar was more interesting a few years ago when it was formed of three huge geo-desidic dome structures - commonly called "the golf balls".
But these were demolished and replaced by the new - and sinister - pyramid a few years ago.
A natural haven for the indigenous wildlife, the forests and open moorland of the Eastern North York Moors contain badgers, deers and bats.
