If you're looking for a fun-packed holiday for children this summer; you really can't go past Rosedale Abbey on the North York Moors for a super destination.
There are just so many authentic experiences for children to enjoy.
Listed below are just a few of the activities that our own children have really enjoyed this summer.
The River Esk at Egton Bridge is a lovely spot for a stroll, to look for aquatic- and bird-life and play on the ancient stepping stones across the river.
The Eastern edge of the North York Moors takes in the Yorkshire Heritage Coastline with the magnificent beaches, cliffs and Bays at Saltburn, Runswick, Staithes, Sandsend, Whitby, and Robin Hood's Bay.
Kids of all ages love messing about on the sands; or rockpooling for hermit crabs and other "treasure" along the foreshore.
And it is just 30-minutes away by car across the scenic high Moors - worth the drive just for the view!
Whether it's sheep, calf's, chickens, or piglets, our own kids just love animals.
And a visit to a local farm can provide a great education experience for young children to learn about the roll of farming in the North York Moors landscape.
Rosedale is absolutely blessed with some of the finest walking country in the UK.
And most walks have numerous opportunities to visit a cafe or call into an historic Inn for lunch or tea.
Our favourite family walk takes in the abandoned Rosedale Mineral Railway that leads to the Lion Inn on Blakey Ridge.
Generations of children have enjoyed building stone dams across the shallow River Seven that flows through the centre of Rosedale Abbey - about five minutes walk from Rosella Cottage.
And once the dam is built, the kids can even manage to get a little swim in the cold water on a hot day!
With heaps of historic towns and great pubs; there's always somewhere nice to catch up with family and friends over a long summer lunch.
