One purpose of our blog is to promote local enterprises which add to the life and vitality of the North York Moors that surround Rosella Cottage in Roseale Abbey.
And the award-winning café at Cedarbarn near Pickering is certainly popular with locals and visitors to North Yorkshire alike.
To tell you how good the Cedarbarn Café is - they've won the Deliciously Yorkshire Award for Best Use of Regional Produce on a Menu for two years running; and won Best On-Farm Café at the National FARMA awards.
The Cedarbarn Café awards have come because the café has a focus on preparing traditional, wholesome food with the freshest locally-sourced ingredients.
They even grow and produce many of the ingrediants themselves.
The Cedarbarn Café is cosy with room to sit and relax inside; or in the beautifully landscaped outdoor herb garden.
And there are lovely views across the surrounding countryside.
The café menu and daily specials reflect the seasonal growing patterns on local farms.
So you're likely to find asparagus and lamb in the spring and a lot of strawberries in high summer.
Favourite "staples" include homemade Cottage Pie, Beef Casserole and Sirloin Steak, all featuring home-reared Aberdeen Anngus beef from the owners' own farm.
And a highlight is the café's famous Sunday lunch!
If you just need a light snack, they serve delicious sandwiches, excellent coffee and a great selection of cakes and scones which are all home-made.
The café is open seven days a week, so make sure to call in if you're having a visit to Pickering from Rosella Cottage.
Cedarbarn Café is very easy to find from Rosedale Abbey - it is just the other side of Pickering, on the A170 road to Scarborough (sat nav postcode = YO18 7JX).
