The North York Moors National Park Authority has this month launched details of 24 of the best available walks on the moors on the National Park’s website .

The walks range from simple family-friendly strolls to high-moorland hikes and all 24 are intended to help celebrate the wonders of walking on the North York Moors.

The walks are between one mile and 11 miles long; and all are located within a short-drive from Rosella Cottage here in Rosedale Abbey.

The majority of the walks can be completed in just two to three hours; and they offer a sense of the most beautiful and dramatic locations across the moors around Rosedale.

Some of the shorter walks are also on level ‘Easy Access’ footpaths and are suitable for wheelchairs and families with prams and strollers.

The 24 walks are designed to feature local landmarks, historical monuments, woodlands, coastal areas and moorland villages.

The walks include the old Rosedale railway line, Robin Hood’s Bay, the Hole of Horcum,  Rievaulx Abbey, Hutton-le-Hole, and Farndale.

Details of the 24 walks are featured on the "Visiting" section of the National Park website.

And the details of the walks are available as free, downloadable guides that come with a map, full walking instructions and interesting information about what to see and do along the way.
