There are 19 long distance "National Trails" in Britain; and they take walkers through the best hiking country in the UK.

Helmsley View

The Cleveland Way Starts/Ends in our Local Market Town of Helmsley.

In Yorkshire, we are particularly blessed - because of our magnificent scenery of course - to be home to four of the National Trails.

Yorkshire's National Trails include the Cleveland Way; a 110-mile jaunt around the edge of the North York Moors from Helmsley to Scarborough.

We also have the Yorkshire Wolds Way; and a significant section of the Pennine Way.

Lastly, Yorkshire is home to half the length of the famous Coast-to-Coast route from Robin Hoods Bay on the Yorkshire Coast to the Irish sea in Cumbria.

The North York Moors around Rosedale are also home to other great walks.

And Rosella Cottage in Rosedale Abbey makes a great base from which to explore the likes of the Esk Valley Walk, the Rosedale Mineral Railway, or the Lyke Wake Walk.
