Having played a part in Whitby's history for over 307-years, Spyglass 1708 was fully renovated, re-decorated and re-furnished in 2015. With its new 'classic look', Spyglass 1708 is one of the best holiday cottages in Yorkshire

The building work on the Grade II listed building was done by local Stone Mason's from Robert Harrison & Sons; together with expert interior-design fit-out by Rachel Mclane Ltd of Malton.

Rachel used her expertise to furnish and decorate Spyglass 1708, giving it a luxurious yet contemporary feel.

The Accommodation

The accommodation consists of a beautiful master bedroom and spacious en-suite taking up the entire first floor of the cottage. Its lovely and light space king-size bed with hotel-quality bed linen, adds a touch of indulgence to the holiday home. In the en-suite, clean lines, a huge walk-in high pressure monsoon shower and complimentary toiletries complete the luxury feel. Our cottage is also equipped with clothes-washer and dryer to acommodate your laundry needs.  Handy for those guests staying for a week or longer at Whitby, Yorkshire.

The accommodation continues on the second floor with a generous-sized, pre-Georgian sitting room featuring stunning views through two huge windows across Whitby's rooftops to St Hilda’s Abbey, the upper harbor, and the North York Moors beyond. The room is comfortably furnished and comes with gorgeous paintings and objets d’art by local artists. There’s also a comfortable sofabed; suitable for younger children and teens; or even a third couple when friends are staying together.

The sitting room leads through to an open-plan, modern and well equipped kitchen-diner; dishwasher included.

On the top floor, Spyglass 1708 has a rooftop bedroom – ideal for second couples or older children; with a second toilet handily located up here. There is also a wall-mounted flat screen TV and additional pretty views across Whitby to the Abbey and harbor.
