King Henry III first granted a charter to Roger Mowbray of Hovingham in 1279 AD for a Village Market.
And after a short break of 156 years - the monthly market at Hovingham is back in action!
The Hovingham Village Market takes place the first Saturday of each month; with the next markets being Saturday 2nd March and Saturday 6th April, 2013.
Comprising of over 30 indoor and outdoor stalls, the market promotes local and fresh healthy produce, arts and crafts, and products.
And what's more? The Hovingham Village Market was voted "Best Yorkshire Farmer's Market" in 2012 by Yorkshire Life Magazine; and it won the "Yorkshire Rurual Oscar" in 2012 - awarded by the Countryside Alliance.
You'll find the market located on the B1257 half-way between Malton and Helmsley. It's well worth a visit if you're holidaying in Rosedale Abbey.
Rosella Cottage is a luxurious self-catering, get-away-from-it-all holiday home in Rosedale Abbey. We accommodate active couples in a village-centre location; and it's easy to walk to the local shop, cafes, gallery, & village pubs with great restaurants.
