Cleveland Iron Museum

If you're holidaying on the North York Moors this summer - and looking for something different to do with children to keep them amused for a few hours - you could do a lot worse that paying a visit to the Cleveland Ironstone Mining Museum at Skinningrove.

The ironstone museum was an actual "adit mine" in times pas;  and today it offers a fascinating insight to modern-day visitors who can experience the underground world of the Miners.

You can explore the skills, customs and life of the miners.

And it provides a rich insider’s view of how the 5,000 miners living on the Moors in the 1800’s lived and worked the ore.

Skinningrove is located on the Yorkshire Heritage Coast between Saltburn to the North and Whitby to the South.

It is also just a short and scenic drive across the high Moors from Rosella Cottage in Rosedale.
