Royal Academy shows Gillies Jones

The Gillies Jones Artisan glass makers from Rosedale Abbey have been invited to showcase their critically acclaimed glass art work at the Royal Academy in London this coming April.

Gillies Jones will be showing five of their unique glass art works at the Academy.

The Gillies Jones Gallery is Easy to Find in Rosedale Abbey.

All of the pieces on display have been inspired by the distinctive landscape of the North York Moors that surround Rosedale.

The works are being shown in a Royal Academy showcase titled "Crafted - Makers of the Exceptional".

The showcase, takes place at the Royal Academy of Arts in Burlington Gardens, London, from Thursday 3rd to the Saturday 5th April 2014.

The aim of the showcase is to celebrate the work of Britain’s most talented designer's and craft-makers.

And it also provides a glimpse into the traditional methods used by Britain’s finest craft makers.

Gillies Jones' Celebrate the distinctive landscape of the North York Moors.

Amongst other crafts on display, the show features knitwear, jewellery, lapidary, and glass blowing.

The showcase is free of charge to visit and open to all.

Gillies Jones Gallery in Rosedale

Gillies Jones' work is made using tools and techniques very similar to the very first glass-makers who worked in remote Rosedale in the Fifteenth century.

The Gillies Jones Studio Gallery in Rosedale Abbey is open to all visitors to Rosedale; where you can see traditional glass making methods in use on "firing days".

The Gallery also displays a range of Gillies Jones' current works for sale.

Find the Gilles Jones Gallery in the Centre of Rosedale Abbey.

The studio is located directly opposite the rear of Rosella Cottage and is accessed through the Medieval churchyard; and about two-minutes walk away.

So make sure to call in whenever you're visiting Rosedale Abbey.
