The Russian's Aren't Coming

According to the Daily Telegraph, more and more overseas holiday destinations have become the the vacation place of choice for Russians.

Now I've got nothing in particular against Russians.

In fact, I've quite liked all the one's I've ever met.

And they even managed to swap sides in World War II and fight with us Brits against the Germans - so they can't be all that bad can they?

Although it did take a Nazi invasion to convince them of the merits of that move.

And I know that the good and friendly folk of the North York Moors would make the Russians just as welcome as any other visitors if they ever bothered to turn up on holiday.

But the happy reality is that the Russians are much more contented in Venice or Porto Cervo in Italy.

Many of them prefer the winter skiing in St Moritz in Switzerland; or Couchevel 1850 in the French Alps.

And Antalya on the Turkish Riviera, Phuket in Thailand, and Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt are seeing Russian's buying up beaches like nobody's business.

So perhaps it is no bad thing that a "Little Russia" hasn't quite happened in our lovely Rosedale just yet.

But if you'd prefer a Russian-saturated holiday destination yourself, the list above should give you some pointers as to where to go on your next holiday.

And you'll still be warmly welcomed in Rosedale Abbey when you come back!
