It might still be cold and nasty outside in January; but there is plenty to look forward to this Spring if you're holidaying in North Yorkshire.
Here's a couple of local events that any holiday to Rosedale Abbey or Whitby should include this Spring.
The Tour de Yorkshire - in its second year - is on again from the Friday 29th April to the Sunday 1st May.
And Monday 2nd May is also a public holiday so it's guarenteed to be a good long weekend of cycling fun.
For us, day 3 on Sunday 1st May is the pick of the race as the riders take on the North York Moors and race through the streets of Whitby.
The riders are set to climb many of the region’s impressive hills, including Sutton Bank near Helmsley and Blakey Ridge above Rosedale.
Rosella Cottage in Rosedale Abbey and Spyglass 1708 in Whitby offer perfect accommodation for anyone wanting to get close to the action.
The Tour de Yorkshire Will Pass Close to Spyglass 1708 and Rosella Cottage.
Ever since Bram Stoker’s Victorian-era Gothic novel 'Dracula' was first published, it's setting in Whitby has attracted Dracula fans and interested visitors to the town on the North East Coast.
And the Gothic link between Whitby and Dracula has attracted a hugely popular gothic lifestyle event to Whitby over two weekends of the year since 1994.
The first of the Festivals takes place in April; with the second Festival during Halloween at the end of October.
Each event consists of three days of alternative Markets and fringe activities throughout the town which include gothic ghost walks, live performances and art displays; and two nights of live entertainment at The Spa Pavilion.
Whitby Goth Festivals have grown into the World’s leading gothic events and have become a tourist attraction in their own right.
