Malton's Castle Gardens

There are many reasons to plan a visit to the historic Market town of Malton this June.

You might come because it has a growing reputation as the "food capital of Yorkshire" - with the monthly food market on Saturday 14th June up next.

Maybe you'll visit for the traditional open-air markets held in the town centre every Saturday througout the year.

Or perhaps you'll come for the high-street shopping and to show your support to the wide range of independent shops.

How about visiting to support the Malton Festival of Cycling on Sunday 22nd June 2014?

See - there really are lots of good reasons to visit Malton in North Yorkshire.

And it's just a kick-stride from the edge of the North York Moors.

One of my favourite things to do in Malton is a little visit to the oasis in town which is the Malton Castle Garden.

The Castle Garden is a 5-acre public park and a scheduled ancient monument.

There is evidence of remains of a Roman fort, Malton Castle, and a Jacobean Prodigy House underlying the park.

You may even remember that Tony Robinson and the "Time Team" archaeologists made a dig at the site back in 1997.

The park is a natural garden offering a woodland haven as a bird and animal habitat; and there are also lawns surrounded by formal paths and seating.

It's a very pleasent and relaxing place; and just minutes from Malton market square.

The Castle Garden is open every day and entry is free.
