Heathrow Airport Promotes Yorkshire To International Tourists

Heathrow Airport and the Nation's leading tourism agency - Visit Britain - have been running a great poster campaign with adverts promoting the joys of a Yorkshire holiday to international passengers arriving in the UK.

The posters are visible across 134 digital screens in all terminals at Heathrow.

Britain Poster 1

The View Across North Yorkshire from Sutton Bank.

They serve to illustrate the natural beauty of our fabulous Yorkshire countryside, as well as our cultural and architectural highlights.

Our favourite striking image shows Sutton Bank on the edge of the North York Moors; a few miles from Rosella Cottage here in lovely Rosedale Abbey.

And the campaign seems to be working with international tourist visitors across Yorkshire on the up.

Plus Yorkshire has been rewarded for the second straight year with the prestigious title of European Tourism Destination at the International Travel Awards held last week.

We've noticed more interest from overseas visitors to Rosella Cottage as well; where we've welcomed guests from as far away as Denmark, Sweden, Canada, and Australia this past summer.

The Tour de France Has Put Yorkshire in the International Spotlight.

In 2013 the region welcomed 1.2 million visits from overseas - an increase of 12 per cent on the 2012 figures.

Foreign visitors are reported to be spending an average of nearly nine-nights in Yorkshire on these visits.

And the value to Yorkshire from these visitors in 2013 reached a new record of £584 million - a significant uplift of 35 per cent on the previous year.

Our favourite Yorkshire City - York - also consistently makes the list of top 15 most visited cities in Britain.

It's no wonder to us, really, since we know how beautiful the North York Moors can be across all seasons; and what a special place York is to visit!

So get cracking on your next holiday plan for a visit to the North York Moors!
