Winter Social Events Near Rosedale

The dark nights are now drawing in across the North York Moors around Rosedale.

But as the temperature falls, it might seem that the fun on the Moors is over for another year.

Frosts and even a bit of snow can add a magic quality to a late Autumn or Winter visit to the North York Moors.

And at this time of year, we reckon that the true magic, mystery and wonder of a day trip visit to historic Whitby comes to the fore.

Early evening darkness makes it the perfect time of year to drive into Whitby and explore the towns true Gothic character.

And with music and live bands playing the pubs and clubs across the town as part of the Goth Weekend, the first weekend in November is a great time to plan a trip.

Going on for 20 years, the popularity of the Goth weekend has grown and it is now the highlight of Whitby's social calendar.

Another  highlight in the lead up to Christmas is the Victorian weekend over in Robin Hood's Bay from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th December.

Day trippers from Rosedale will enjoy the sight of locals in Dickensian costumes and the warm glow from festive lanterns lighting the streets and shop windows.

The Victorian weekend has developed into a Bay tradition and also sees an art exhibition, treasure hunt, open cottages, street entertainment and  a trip back in time with some Victorian geology.

Even after Christmas, there is still the chance to keep the party atmosphere going with a visit to Staithes - on the coast to the North of Rosedale Abbey.

Starting on the 27th December is the Staithes Christmas Beer Festival which promises three days of fun at that cold time of year.
