As you drive up the two hundred yard-long drive through a clearing in Pickering Woods, you'll discover Lowther House and "The Den Cafe".
It seems like a million miles from urban life, yet is just a ten minute stroll down a tree-lined avenue into Pickering Town Centre.
And it's just 25-minutes drive away from Rosella Cottage in Rosedale Abbey.
The house sits on the very edge of North York Moors National Park and you're free wander in the lovely gardens by the brook.
They'll even lend you a net so you can try fishing for Brown Trout.
And if you catch a big enough one, they'll even cook it for you!
The lovely riverside country garden and The Den Cafe at Lowther House are a haven of tranquility.
During the summer months, you'll find people picnicing under the shady trees, dogs splashing in the beck, and everyone else just relaxing under a parasol watching the steam trains of the NYMR puffing by.
The ‘Den’ serves tea, coffee, pastries, and snacks; as well as lunches, with extra-special lunches being served on Sundays.
Menus include breakfast, lunch and dinner items, from ciabattas to chillis, to crostini, and bacon butties!
The food is quite eclectic - with dishes from around the world - Mexican, Texan, and Italian - as well as comfy British favourites.
Sunday Lunches are really something - traditional fare, but with a distinctive twist!
The garden deck area is open with umbrellas all winter to accommodate hardy hikers and bikers; so you can visit in all seaons.
For further information, contact Lowther House on the telephone 01751 474998.
