As the Festive Season begins to roll into view, there are numerous opportunites to make a weekend visit to one of the great Christmas Fairs or markets that are taking place around the North York Moors.

Burton Agnes Hall is holding Christmas Craft Days on the weekends leading up to Christmas.

And Castle Howard is also hosting its annual Christmas Market offering seasonal treats and gifts in the Stable Courtyard on the following dates; 23rd, 24th, and 30 November; and 1st,  7th, 8th and 9th December.

The North York Moors National Park Centre at Danby is hosting its annual Christmas Craft Fair on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th November with a visit from Santa and craft activities for the children.

And the National Park Centre at the top of Sutton Bank is also hosting a special Christmas event on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th November.

There'll be live music, seasonal food tastings, children's activities, and local produce for sale.

A trip down to Whitby on Thursday 27th to Sunday 30th November will be worthwhile with the seafront beach huts hosting pop-up market stalls for the second annual Christmas market.

And you can also enjoy Carols in the lead up to Christmas on Sundays from 2pm in the splendid surroundings of Whitby Abbey.

Closer to Rosedale Abbey

Botton Village at the head of Danby Dale is holding an Advent Fair on Sunday 16th November.

Pickering's Beck Isle Museum is holding a Christmas Craft Fair and Tree Festival on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th November.

And Pickering's Christmas Lights will also be turned-on from Saturday 29th onwards.

While on Sunday 30th November, Malton's Christmas Lights switch on fun begins at 2.30 pm with lights on at 5.30 pm.
