Rosedale's Cosy Moorland Pubs

Winters on the North York Moors surrounding Rosedale Abbey can be pretty harsh.

But the harshness of the weather is easily compensated by the warmth of welcome in any of our local Moorland Inns.

And all have roaring open fires at this time of year.

There is a variety of Moorland pubs serving great food and fine cask-conditioned real Ales within easy reach of Rosella Cottage.

Pull up a Stool by the Cosy Open Range at the Blacksmiths in Lastingham.

So there really is no excuse not to visit; even in the depths of a February cold spell.

Right here in Rosedale Abbey; and within a few minutes short walking you'll find the Coach House Inn and White Horse Farm Inn.

You may remember that the White Horse won the best pub in Yorkshire title in 2012.

A little further down the Dale you'll come to the Blacksmiths Country Inn.

In the opposite direction and out on the high Moors is the World-famous Lion Inn on Blakey Ridge.

It's Yorkshire's most remote pub and a Mecca for Walkers undertaking (!!!) the Lyke Wake Walk.

The Lion Inn is a Welcome Sight on the North York Moors above Rosedale.

And within just a short drive is a great selection of other pubs; our favourite recommendations include the Moors Inn in Appleton-le-Moors, the Blacksmiths in Lastingham, the Feathersham Arms in Farndale, and the Crown in Hutton-le-Hole.

So make a weekend of it at Rosella Cottage this Winter and come up to the Moors for some real Yorkshire hospitaility.
