North Yorkshire Market Towns

We're fortunate in North Yorkshire that many of the larger towns which are close to Rosedale Abbey still have their traditional weekly open-air street markets.

The high-street markets are always good places to buy fresh produce; and you'll often find stalls selling fish, meat and game, and fresh vegetables; as well as clothing, arts and crafts, and other objects of interest.

Hunters of Helmsley - Mike Nicholas

Helmsley Market is on each Friday.

Our local street markets are very much a part of the local heritage in this part of North Yorkshire.

So if you get the chance during a visit to Rosella Cottage, try to ensure you get along to a least one local market.

Below is a list of market towns and the days the markets opperate.

I've arranged them in order by distance from Rosedale Abbey.  Kirkymoorside is our nearest market town and York is furthest away.

But all are within about an hours drive by car.

+   Kirkbymoorside - Wednesday

+   Pickering - Monday

+   Helmsley - Friday

+   Malton - Saturday

+   Whitby - Tuesday and Saturday

+   Guisborough - Thursday and Saturday

+   Stokesley - Friday

+   Northallerton - Wednesday and Saturday

+   Scarborough - Monday and Saturday

+   Thirsk - Monday and Saturday

+   York - Daily
