Birch Hall Inn at Beckhole

As part of its reporting on St George's Day (23rd April), the Daily Telegraph has today named the Birch Hall Inn at Beckhole to be one of the top ten best pubs in England.

We reckon they're probably right!

Stepping into the Birch Hall Inn is like stepping back in time - in a good way.

Its reputed to be the smallest Inn in Yorkshire but it is a wonderful little place. Just like a proper pub should be!

It's totally unspoilt and in a peaceful location; and it makes for an ideal stopping off point when exploring Goathland (Heartbeat's "Aidensfield") or walking along the ancient Roman Road  on the North Yorks Moors.

It really is a a wonderful pub with good real ale, nice pork pies and sandwiches, and a sweet shop too.

And it's just a short drive across the Moors from Rosedale Abbey.
