Botham's, Yorkshire's Finest

Many holidaymakers coming to North Yorkshire may put a visit to Betty's Cafe in Harrogate or York on their "to do" list.

But closer to Rosella Cottage in Rosedale Abbey, we're blessed with a far older Yorkshire tea-room institution.

Betty's Cafe started serving tea in Harrogate in 1919; but Elizabeth Botham had already been serving up Yorkshire tea room specials for more than 50-year's by that late date.

Founded in 1865 and going strong for 149 years, Botham's of Whitby - and Pickering - remains a family-run craft bakery with tea-shops of the highest standards.

And no day out to Whitby or Pickering is complete without a Visit to Botham's for a proper English afternoon tea.

Guests of Rosella  Cottage can easily visit the Botham's tea rooms in Pickering which is just 10-miles away in our local town; or in Whitby which is just 25-miles away.

It is a fabulous scenc drive across the high North York Moors from Rosedale to Whitby as well!

The Pickering tea-rooms are open Monday to Sunday from 10am to 5.30pm in summer.

You'll find Botham's at 8 Park Street in Pickering (telephone 01947 602823).

In Whitby, Botham's teas rooms is found on Skinner Street; and there is also the Botham's Cafe on Baxtergate.

Both are highly recommended.
