The village is located within Rosedale, a beautiful valley of steeply-plunging hillsides and breathtaking vistas.

Cropton Forest looking toward North Yorkshire Moors Railway - Tracey Phillips

We're blessed in Rosedale with fabulous natural beauty.

And Rosedale is surrounded by beautiful moorland scenary in every direction.

A centre of iron-stone working with a population of over 5,000 in the 1860s; today, Rosedale Abbey is a tiny and charming cluster of traditional Yorkshire stone-built cottages; and all set around a picture-postcard village green.

You'll also find village shops, tea-rooms, cafe, art gallery, glass studio and two old country pubs with restaurants.

Rosedale Abbey is also home to a pitch-and-putt golf course, horse riding, a camping-site, and just hundreds of opportunites for walking and cycling trips about the valley.

From a base at Rosedale Abbey, you can also visit the nearby pretty village of Hutton-le-Hole with its amazing village green and Ryedale Folk Museum; a ‘hands on’ museum of local life and Yorkshire tradition.

The local town of Kirkbymoorside is just 7 miles away, whilst the coastal towns of Whitby and fishing villages like Staithes, Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay are all an easy driving distance.

Scarborough, York, Harrogate and Leeds are all only an hour or so by car; and London and Edingburgh are both less than four-hours by train and car.
