If you're lucky enough to be holidaying in Rosedale Abbey in the North York Moors or along the Yorkshire Heritage Coast during the last week of June 2013, then a day trip to Scarborough might be just the ticket on Saturday 29th June.

You'll get to see the fantastic Red Arrows take to the skies during "Armed Forces Day" in Scarborough.

Armed Forces day in Scarborough gets underway at noon with a welcome by the Mayor of Scarborough and the presentation of badges to veterans.

There will be a noisy display by RAF Typhoon Jet Fighters followed by the Red Arrows' 20-minute skyshow of aerial acrobatics.

Other aerial activity includes a flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight involving Spitfire, Lancaster and Hurricane aircraft.

Paratrooper members of the Ravens Parachute Display Team will fly an Armed Forces Day flag and set off smoke flares during their descent onto the beach.

An RAF Sea King helicopter flypast will mark the end of the event.

On the ground, there will be a veterans’ parade, a beach boot camp, two flight simulators, paintballing, a climbing tower, equipment displays and vintage military vehicles.
