10 Ideas for Rosedale in September

1.  Walk or cycle to the top of Chimney Bank, the steepest public road in England. Take in the view and you might see all the way to York Minster over 45-miles away.

2.  Reward yourself to an ale in the White Horse Farm Inn on the way back down. It was voted to be "Yorkshire's Favourite Pub".

3.  Walk, cycle, or ride a pony (with permission) the Victorian-era Steam Railway line. The 10-mile full circumference and back to Rosedale Abbey is about 5-6 hours walking time.

4.  Make sure to stop and look at the Industrial heritage on the moor top and marvel at the grit of the folks who worked the mines and railway.

5.  You can get refreshments at Dale Head Tea Garden. Try the legendary lemon drizzle cake. And half way round there’s the Lion Inn to visit just off the path on Blakey Ridge. It's North Yorkshire's most remote pub.

6.  Try either of our two village tea shops. Abbey Stores serves super blueberry and ginger scones; and Graze on the Green does lovely Barista coffee.

7.  Dine in our four pub restaurants - the Milburn Arms, Coach House Inn, White Horse, or Blacksmiths at Hartoft.

8.  Start a walk right from the front door of Rosella Cottage in the centre of the village; taking in the miles and miles of  protected wild flower verges and wildlile in the Dale.

9.  Walk just 100 yards to visit the critically acclaimed glass gallery and studio of Gillies-Jones. With the glass-making kilns going, it's a great spot on a wet or cold day.

10. Take the Rosedale Challenge and play a round of golf on the nine hole course at Abbey Golf.
