Your first visit to Rievaulx Abbey will remain in your heart forever.  I't just such a magical location.  And no other Abbey has such an inspirational setting.

Rievaulx Abbey - Tracey Phillips

You'll Love the Majestic Ruins of Rievaulx Abbey in the North York Moors near Rosedale Abbey.

Rievaulx Abbey, founded in 1131 by Walter L'Espec was the first Cistercian Abbey to be developed in Yorkshire.  And in our view it is the nicest to visit.

A visit today is a simple ride-out by car from Rosella Cottage and once explored, it is also a good idea to take in the view from the Rievaulx Terraces laid out on the hillside above.

The ruin of the Abbey can be glimpsed from the avenues of trees and the two Palladian Temples which were laid out by Thomas Duncombe in 1758.
