Summer in the North York Moors

The 1st day of June marks the official start to summer in Rosedale.  And summer is the season for villages across the North York Moors to put on their agricultural, horticultural and industrial shows.

Rosedale Show is a real treat for guests of Rosella Cottage.

Listed below are some of our favourite village shows taking place in 2012 in the area around Rosedale Abbey.  All the shows are worth a visit and all are easily accessible from Rosella Cottage.

Kicking off the summer season in just a couple of days’ time is Duncombe Park Country Fair which is just down the road near Helmsley.  It takes place on the bank holiday Monday on the 4th of June;

Malton Show is scheduled for the 22nd July and taking place at Scmpston park near Malton;

The Ryedale Show is taking place at Kirkbymoorside on Tuesday 31st July;

August kicks-off with the annual Pickering Traction Engine Rally from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th August at Pickering;

The Saltersgate Farmers Hunt, Country Show and Sports is also taking place that same weekend on Saturday 4th August;

The annual Gooseberry Show will take place this year at Egton Bridge on Tuesday 7th August;

You’ll then find the Thornton-le-Dale Show is taking place over in Thornton-le-Dale on Wednesday 8th August;

You’ll then have a week to relax before the Danby Agricultural Show kicks-off on Wednesday 15th August;

Next up is our very own Rosedale Show on Saturday 18th August.  Taking place in Rosedale Abbey and just a stones-throw from the front door of Rosella Cottage;

Over the weekend of the 18th and 19th August, you’ll also find the Whitby Regatta taking place down at Whitby;

Coming along is swift succession is Egton Show which this year takes place on Wednesday 22nd August; and

Finishing-up the month of August is the Farndale Show on Bank Holiday Monday, the 27th August.

Rosella Luxury Holiday Cottage
