Good Reasons to Holiday in Rosedale

To a large extent, our local community in Rosedale relies on tourism to provide the income that keeps young people living in the Dale.

Without tourism, more and more local youngsters are forced to move away from the North York Moors in the search for jobs and income.

For myself, I had to leave over 25-years ago in the search for work; and it's taken me this long to save up and get back!

As a vibrant and sustainable community, we need people coming to Rosedale for holidays!

We need the active holidaymakers who hire accommodation, stay for the weekend or the week, drink in the four valley pubs, eat at the cafes, and buy stuff from the village store.

And I think Rosedale can offer those holidaymakers a damn good time!

Here's why:

· Rosedale is just a couple of hours drive for people living in Leeds, Bradford,  Sunderland, and Newcastle.  And we're under an hour from York, Harrogate, Hull, and Middlesbrough - meaning it's quick to get here for short breaks;

· Rosedale Abbey is right in the centre of the North York Moors National Park - making it easy to visit all the sites across the Moors;

· Although we have all the benefits of being a "remote" and out-of-the-way place, we're also right on the doorstep of lovely Georgian market towns like Kirkbymoorside, Pickering, and Helmsley;

· You can also easily get to the seaside towns and villages like Whitby, Staithes, Robin Hood's Bay and Scarborough for a grand day out;

· Rosedale has a good choice of accommodation across a range of budgets - allowing many types of people to get close to nature;

· It's a fantastic place for walking, cycling, running, and birdwatching (with ring ouzels, nightjars, herons and red kite);

· Children love the freedom of Rosedale; so we help to create happy family memories in a safe environment with a slower pace of life and different things to see and do each day;

· For history buffs, we have hidden gems, industrial archeology, and monumental remains of the Victorain iron-mining revolution;

· We're nestled in a deep wooded valley that is surrounded by Moors and beautiful countryside on all sides;

· We offer solo-travellers, active couples, families, and retiree's a tranquil and special retreat from the stresses of busy modern urban life;

· Rosedale is a place to feel rested and restored; where you can stop and listen to the sounds of nature;

· You can marvel at the skill of glass making Artisans;

· You can enjoy a cake, coffee, or high-tea in a choice of three cafes; or beer and a fine meal in a choice of four historic Country Inns; and

· You can return home with the good feeling that the money you've spent on your holiday in Rosedale has contributed to the Sustainable Development of the North York Moors National Park.

And for that, we'll all thank you for your time here.
