Autumn Itinerary for Rosedale

With the half-term Autumn holidays rapidly approaching, keeping the whole family entertained has never been so easy for holidaymakers visiting Rosedale Abbey.

I've put together a simple itinerary for exploring the best of the North York Moors which has a bit of something for every family member to enjoy!.

Day 1, Saturday

Get a feel for your environment.  Take the very scenic drive across the Moors and down through the Esk Valley to Whitby. Enjoy a Fish & Chips lunch with harbour views and climb the 199-steps to the historic Abbey.

Day 2, Sunday

Go rockpooling and fossil hunting at Robin Hood's Bay on the Yorkshire Heritage Coast.

Day 3, Monday

Plan a visit to Helmsley and visit the shops, the Castle and explore near-by Rievaulx Abbey for a majestic and inspiring day-out. On the way back, stop off at the Blacksmith's Arms in Lastingham for dinner.

Day 4, Tuesday

No trip to the region is complete without a visit to York and its medievel streets; the Jorvik Viking Centre; the Minister; the Yorkshire Museum; and some shopping.

Day 5, Wednesday

Visit the "Hogsmead Station", from the Harry Potter movie, or the Moorland village of "Ashfordly" from the Heartbeath TV series. In reality, both are at Goathland. A side trip to the ancient Roman Road running across the Moor above Goathland is also interesting.

Day 6, Thursday

Enjoy a visit to the wonderful Ryedale Folk Museum in Hutton-le-Hole. It's just 5-miles from Rosella Cottage and you can drive, cycle or even hike across the Moors to get there. Enjoy dinner at the White Horse, Coach House Inn, or Milburn Arms right here in Rosedale Abbey.

Day 7, Friday

Sadly, your last day.  But make it count with a stop-off at Castle Howard on the way home.  The most Stately of stately-homes in Britain.

These suggestions will mean you'll leave Rosedale Abbey with wonderful memories of your fun week with us; so what are you waiting for?
