Captain Cook Challenge Sportive

The Captain Cook Challenge Sportive will take place this year (2013) across the North York Moors on 1st September.

Sportives are long distance organized cycling events; the cycling equivalent of running the marathon, which involve completing a set route.

The Captain Cook Challenge Sportive offers 33-, 62- and 94-mile routes across the Moors.

Castle Howard Triathlon - Tracey Phillips

Watch the Captain Cook Challenge Sportive on Chimeny Bank in Rosedale.

The ride takes in the most challenging roads in the North York Moors, with long, steep climbs and descents.

So of course, the 94 mile route - "the mega" ride - comes through Rosedale Abbey to take in our World-famous Chimney Bank - "the chain breaker"!

And with nearly 7,500 feet of climing, the ride tests all round bike riding skill rather than flat out speed.
