Whitby Regatta Weekend

If you're lucky enough to be visiting the North York Moors this coming weekend, you're in for a double treat.

Firstly, the Moorland purple heather is coming into a superb state of bloom - which makes the visit here worth it in itself.

But secondly, Saturday 9th to Monday 11th August marks the tradition that is Whitby Regatta.

It's been run each August for 174 years; and the Whitby Regatta is the oldest sea Regatta in the Country.

The Regatta at Whitby presents three full days of entertainment for anyone who loves the seaside.

There'll be all the usual favourites - including yacht racing, rowing races, various free forms of entertainment, and the pier-end fair ground each evening with exciting rides for those who like that kind of thing.

And of course, it all ends with a spectacular firework display.
