North York Moors Walk Fest 2015

Come and join the North York Moors National Park Authority for its first walking festival from Friday 22nd May to Monday 25th May 2015.

There are walks for all ages and abilities.

Some walks have expert guides from the worlds of archaeology and wildlife conservation.

Advance bookings and payment are essential for all WalkFest walks.

Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.

Dogs are allowed on some walks, but must be kept on a short fixed lead at all times.

Don’t get Lost

Brush up on your navigation skills with this fun family session at the Moors National Park Centre in Danby.

The Park in a Day

This walk is full of contrasts.

Passing over moorland, through woodland and across historic stone trods that are hundreds, maybe even thousands of years old.

Walkers will have the opportunity to learn about moorland management, local heritage, and the wildlife of the North York Moors.

The terrain varies and this 13 mile walk is suitable for experienced walkers only.

Please bring a packed lunch.

Wildlife and Views

Education Officer Tanya Eyre from the Hawk & Owl Trust invites you to explore the beautiful Howdale and Brow Moors on a 3.7 mile walk.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to glimpse the moorland wildlife and enjoy the views of two very different landscapes – our heather moorland and rugged coastline.

Don’t forget your binoculars!

Location: Fylingdales Moor, Ravenscar, near the Transmitter Mast (OS Grid Ref: NZ 970 012)

Lilla Cross

High Moor Heritage

Take in some of the interesting heritage and natural fascinations near Commondale and Castleton.

This 10 mile walk will take you to picturesque Commondale, along open moorland and the beautiful Esk Valley to finish.

Please note this walk is suitable for experienced walkers only.

Please bring a packed lunch.
