Rosedale Abbey Meadow Conservation

If you peek over the wall from our garden patio at Rosella Cottage in Rosedale Abbey you'll be able to view the mini-meadow conservation site in the churchyard of St Mary and St Laurence.

The mini-meadow was established in 2011 and it is full of wild flowers, including beautiful pockets of yellow rattle and carpets of bush vetch and stitchwort.

There is a great variety of grass species too.

The variety of flora on offer in the mini-meadow attracts insects including bees, butterflies and moths which in turn support many species of British birds.

The mini meadow also provides a haven to small mammals and there are even slow worms.

To visit the meadow, just walk through the iron gate to the left of our garden patio!
