Early Closing Days in North Yorkshire

Don't get caught out if you're shopping in this part of North Yorkshire; it is traditional for local shop keepers to have an "early closing day" on one day each week when they shut-up shop around mid-day.

And to confuse tourists, the shop keepers in the local towns and villages all pick a different day to close early! 

Moreover, not all of the shops even bother to close - so you never really know what's going on!!

In general, here are the "early closing" days listed by town:

Wednesday - early closing day in Great Ayton, Harrogate, Pickering, Robin Hood's Bay, Sleights, Stokesley, Whitby, Guisborough, Helmsley, Scarborough, Staithes, Thirsk, and York;

Thursday - early closing day in Kirkbymoorside, Malton, and Ruswarp; and

Saturday - early closing day in Egton.
