There is an informal history meeting with afternoon tea and time for a chat occuring on Sunday 4th May from 2pm – 4pm at Updale Reading Room in Rosedale.
The History Society archive is also open for quiet self-paced research from 1.30pm.

You Can Visit the Memorial Cross in the Church Yard in Rosedale Abbey.
The History Society houses over 30-folders of local family histories and personal memories, project files, transcribed Census and Rosedale Parish Records, photographs, and much more besides.
All local people and visitors holidaying in Rosedale are most welcome to view the records; and there is no charge.
You can research your own Family Tree; and help is available if needed.
There will also be tea and home-made cakes!
How good is that for a Sunday afternoon?
The History Society is also planning a project and exhibition to commemorate the centenary of the First World War; probably in September (to be confirmed shortly).
Visitors to Rosedale can see the Roll of Honour in the Church and the names listed on the Memorial Cross in the churchyard behind Rosella Cottage in the village; and there are names listed on a plaque at the Updale Reading Room also.
They are still looking for information on those who fought and any information will be greatly appreciated!
Please get in in touch with either Janet Dring or Linda Chambers, 01751 417071.
