Holiday-makers who stay in Rosedale are frequently looking to include a short to medium-length walk covering half a day, or a full day out and about during their stay.
So today, I'm recommending two walkers guides for anyone visiting Rosella Cottage who wants to explore some nice walks in North Yorkshire.
Heather on the North York Moors in August is simply stunning!
The first book - "Ramblers Short Walks in the North Yorkshire Moors" is a practical little walking guide to the North York Moors and it is endorsed by the Ramblers.
All the featured walks are under five-miles in length and they can all be easily accomplished in less than half a day by an averagly fit person.
The 20 walks shown in the book use clear Ordnance Survey maps to show the route plus easy to follow walk descriptions.
And all the walks in this book are located in the North York Moors National Park in the area around Rosedale.
The book was first published in March 2011.
My second recommendation today - "Day Walks in the North York Moors" - by Tony Harker is a compact and easily portable hill walking guidebook.
This book showcases another 20 circular routes of between 6 and 14 miles and it is more suitable for walkers looking for a full-day walk.
The routes are split into three areas - The Cleveland Hills, Central Moors and Coastal Walks - and include walks to the most historic and beautiful areas of the Moors, including Lord Stones, Wainstones and Clay Bank, Rievaulx Abbey, Blakey Ridge and Farndale, the Hole of Horcum, and the stunning coastline at Robin Hood's Bay and Ravenscar.
Each walk is described with easy-to-follow directions and details of distance, navigation information, refreshment stops and is plotted on clear and easy to use Ordnance Survey 1:25,000 maps.
This book was published in September 2011.
Rosella Cottage is a luxurious self-catering, get-away-from-it-all holiday home in Rosedale Abbey; focussed on the holiday needs of active couples wanting a break from routine. We have a cosy lounge, small kitchen, a king-size bed in a spacious bedroom with vaulted-ceiling, and a lovely en-suite.
With a village-centre location it's easy to walk to the local shop, cafes, gallery & village pubs with great restaurants. Built in 1850 but now completely refurbished, Rosella Cottage offers a luxury bolt-hole in the heart of the North York Moors. To view availability and for bookings enquiries, just click here.
