What's in Store in 2015?

At this time of year, with the dark nights, cold, and short days, it pays to look forward to the delights that the North York Moors hold in store in 2015.

As usual, there are simply thousands of events of all types happening on the Moors again this year.

I've chosen a few highlights that I hope will persuade you to book a week or weekend get-away in stunning Rosedale in 2015.

Spring

The highlight of Spring will be new to Yorkshire this year.

I'm talking about the Tour De Yorkshire which promises three-days of exciting International cycle racing over the first weekend of May 2015.

Cycling fans will be heading to Yorkshire in droves once again to catch the pro-riders take on some of North Yorkshire’s toughest climbs.

Fingers crossed that our World-famous Chimney Bank will be on the new route!

Summer

My favourite Moorland events have to be the numerous village "shows" which are a unique cultural icon of this region.

There are more than 20-agricultural shows on offer in high summer including our own Rosedale Show; held in August.

Egton, Danby, Ryedale, Malton, Kildale, Castleton, and Stokesly all hold their own versions; and each is unique.

Anf the Egton Bridge Gooseberry Show is unique in the World.

Autumn

As the days draw-in, Autumn is a great time to enjoy the cullinary experience on offer across the North York Moors.

We're blessed with a good few Mitchelin-starred restaurants within easy; like the Star Inn at Harome or the Black Swan at Oldstead.

And there are also hundreds of fantastic gastro pubs.

The Pheasent at Harome or the Blacksmiths at Lastingham are both highly recommended.

Winter

Throughout the year; and across all seasons; the beauty of the North York Moors is always on show.

And there is such a huge variation in the landscapes here.

From the dramatic scenery of the high Moors above Rosedale to the softer tones of the lower dales like Eskdale or Glaisdale; and don't forget to visit stunning cliffs and beaches of the Yorkshire Heritage Coastline.

It's all amazing!
