6 Rosedale Abbey
Pickering, Y018 8RA
North Yorkshire, UK
It might be an odd sounding name, but cyclists are in for a real treat on Sunday 15th June when the "Moors and Shores" Adventure X kicks off from Dalby Forest.
It offers riders a choice of a 45-mile or 60-mile route across the North York Moors and down by the Yorkshire Heritage Coastline.
The North York Moors is a Cycling Nirvana.
Both the 45-mile "Mini-Massif" and the longer 60-mile "Massif" ride take in the forests, moors and coastline of our beautiful part of North Yorkshire near Rosedale Abbey.
The routes feature many steep climbs and great descents across the lesser explored area of the North York Moors National Park.
The Massif offers a total ascent of nearly 1,800 metres whilst the Mini-Massif still tops out above 1,400 metres of climbs.
And both routes offer a high degree of landscape contrast between the forest roads, moorland tracks, and abandoned railway along the coastal section.
Moors and Shores Takes Place on Sunday 15th June.
Both routes have been designed to be rideable on a cyclo-cross style bike, making the event open to less hard-core riders; but a full-on a mountain bike can also be used.
Both rides start-off from the Forestry Commission Visitor Centre in Dalby Forest (postcode = YO18 7LT).
The Mini-Massif ride costs £25 PP entry and the Massif ride costs £35 PP.
Please note, riders under 16-years are not permitted to participate.
