Walk The Centenary Way

Boots small

The Centenary Way is a long distance walking path that links the Majestic City of York to the Yorkshire Coastal town of Filey.

It is a little known and poorly promoted walk that was designed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the North Yorkshire County Council.

Centenary Way

The Centenary Way is a Lovely Walk Across North Yorkshire.

The walk is really a joining together of three sections of other established walking routes - the Foss Way, Wolds Way, and Cleveland Way.

From York, the walk links the Foss Way to the Area of Outstanding Natuaral Beauty (AONB) that is the Howardian Hills and Castle Howard.

It then joins the the Yorkshire Wolds Way where walkers can visit the abandoned medieval village of Wharram Percy.

For the majority of its length, the Centenary Way combines a pleasent mixture of riverside walks in deep valleys with forest tracks.

And like any long-distance path; the Centenary Way can be done "end to end" in either direction; or completed as a series of shorter day-walks over a longer time frame.

There is a new 48 page guide to the Centenary Way which is free to download as an e-book.

You will find it here.

Otherwise, you can buy your own hard copy for just £4 from Amazon.

Rosella Cottage in Rosedale

Rosedale Abbey is a "Walkers are Welcome" village set in the dramatic countryside that is the North York Moors National Park.

And Rosella Cottage - in the heart of the village - is a firm favourite with couples wanting a bit of luxury at the end of an active day out on the  Moors.

With a king-size bed, glorious "Monsoon" shower, cosy lounge, laundry facilities, and the benefit of self-catering; we love to introduce walkers to the joys of Rosedale and the Moors.

We're handily located in strolling distance of three village Inns, two cafes, village shop, village green, ancient Church, and Gillies Jones' famous Studio and Gallery.
